Hits and Misses

Keeping with the promise of reviewing brands, here are reviews of 2 not so known brands that I bought online. As with all buying online, there are a few ‘yeahs’ and some ‘sighs’.

Lets start first with AJIO. (www.ajio.com).

Owned by Reliance Industries Ltd, they launched their online fashion portal Ajio.com with the preview of its collection in April at the Lakme Fashion week in Mumbai.

The Ajio website is nicely designed and very convenient for browsing, filtering and finding stuff.

They have a section on sports/active wear that features gym-wear, running gear and yoga clothing.

Printed Leggings Review

I was in the market for printed leggings that weren’t too loud.

These leggings are from their own brand ( they sell other brands too) and were available in 3 colors.

ajio1Made from poly-spandex material, they have a hidden pocket on the waste-band and can be machine washed.  The medium fit me nice and snug and the feel was also great. The stitch and finishing could be a slight bit more refined but as compared to other printed leggings, at a price of 999/- I thought they were a deal.

Overall here is my rating

Fit: 8/10

Design: 7/10

Material: 7/10

Price: 8/10

Now to the next experiment. Alcis, a brand originally from Canada is now available on Jabong. Apart from sports bras they also have the entire range of sportswear available for both men and women.

The fit was good with racer-back in twin colors making it look funky.

The down side was the material, 90% cotton and 10% spandex means that these aren’t the best for those high intensity ( read heavy sweating) workouts. Also the band at the bottom of the bra gets twisted and doesn’t offer too much support. The price is 899/- which as compared to a similar bra from jockey at 399/- was not worth it in my opinion.

So Alcis may not be part of my collection any further.

Overall here is my rating.

Fit: 7/10

Design: 6/10

Material: 4/10

Price: 6/10
